A St. Bernard Shelter Animal

FOAS
Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Bernard
Founded in 1998 as an auxiliary to the St. Bernard Parish Shelter, Friends of the Animal Shelter of St. Bernard (FOAS) is dedicated to improving conditions at the Shelter, improving the quality of life of sheltered animals, and reducing euthanasia of animals in the Parish by increasing spay and neuter, educating the public, providing basic health care for sick or injured shelter animals, increasing adoptions and reuniting lost animals with their families. FOAS is an all volunteer organization and 100% of donations are used to support our efforts.
Our organization is a 501(c)3 public charity run entirely by volunteers.

How does FOAS help?
OFF-SITE ADOPTIONS
We hold bimonthly adoption events in the community to increase adoptions, make adoptions more convenient for potential adopters and provide educational outreach.
SNIP - SPAY/NEUTER INTERVENTION PROGRAM
We provide assistance to pet owners who need assistance with having their dog or cat spayed or neutered. For this program, participants must meet certain criteria (disability, government assistance, Social Security, unemployment, etc.)
ARF - ANIMALS FOR RETIREES FUND
This program helps Senior Citizens adopt adult pets at a reduced cost. This helps Seniors find a companion animal and helps adult pets find a much needed home.
EDUCATION
We distribute various educational information to the public about spaying/neutering, pet safety, pet health, and much more. Our goal is to provide KIND News, a newspaper for children, to students in local schools.
FIX-A-PET
FOAS raises funds to provide veterinary care and medicine for sick or injured pets, both those at the shelter and those of need residents.
SHELTER NEEDS AND PROJECTS
FAOS improves the conditions at the St. Bernard Animal services by providing equipment and essential items for which the shelter has no budget. Some of our past projects include fencing, floor sealing and air conditioning.
